It is modified by a separate team of MediBang programmers so it has some differences, such as the button alternatives for some keyboard shortcuts, it tends to be slightly more compatible with some tablets, and it has a 64-bit version so it can handle more memory for large projects.Ī very good explanation by Obtusity of EFA of some of the biggest differences between Firealpaca and Medibang Paint, I think these are like the defining moments between the two so if you’ve had this question but it’s not been answered before, here’s a really good broad answer to it.This is kinda urgent, because my dad is planning to clean out my entire computer (including programs…) ‘cause of some stupid virus.

MediBang Paint is targeted a little more at commercial manga/cartooning - it is a FireAlpaca base with added cloud features (save to cloud, auto-recovery, team sharing features, multi-page projects, halftone pattern/materials library, brush and font libraries brush and palette and material sync, post to MediBang which is similar to a Japanese DeviantArt, with more of a commercial market feature for manga/graphic novels), Android and iOS versions, and a dark UI. It is developed by, the company behind commercial paint program OpenCanvas and there is some shared feature development (keep an eye out for version 7 if you are interested)

It’s wine stains on the carpet and grey streaks through hair and bleached black shirts.Īnonymous asked: What's the difference between Medibang and FireAlpaca?įireAlpaca is the main development paint program, so it gets new features weeks or months sooner (such as the new 3D snap layers and mesh transform features), and it also has features that might not ever be added into MediBang Paint Pro, such as the onion skin animation features (or maybe the 3D and mesh transform features? We do not yet know if these features will make it into MediBang Paint).

Life is not all beautiful gradients: it is messy, harsh, cafe au lait birthmarks and delineated cast shadows and blinding specularity. You’ll feel better and grow so much faster when you let your art be chaotic and messy and muddy, when you use ugly colors. Let your art breathe, grow, emerge from the colors. Let go of your carefully-placed, transparency-locked layers and slap color on your canvas like a toddler with Spaghetti-Os. One of the easiest ways to do this is to paint on one layer. That dress might be red in real life, but its shadows are purple and its highlights are blood-orange. Train your eye to see the yellow-white specularity, the cool-brown cast shadows. Red hair isn’t red, it’s yellow and brown and white and black. Blue eyes aren’t typically stock RGB-blue, they’re grey and green and muddy browns and blacks. Teeth are yellow and brown, sclera are blue/grey/red/green. Love them in all their complex muddiness–their sludge grey/green/browns, their sickly yellows, their bruise purples. Instead of blending, really look at references and the colors. Greens, blues, yellows, red, purples, pinks, even greys.

Skin isn’t a smooth gradient of one shade to another, it is full of different hues. I want you to focus less on blending and more on deliberate, variant color placement.
